Urbnkind offers consulting services to cities, downtowns, development groups, economic and community organizations, and more.

From strategy and insight to marketing and implementation, we come alongside municipalities and organizations to design placemaking solutions that bridge gaps, connect communities, and welcome people home.

Approach: UX + Urban Design

A user experience (UX) design approach to urban design and city planning focuses on crafting holistic strategies that not only make logistical sense on paper, but are easy for city staff, community facilitators, partners, and the community at large to understand and implement. This involves considering the needs and preferences of the individuals who will be executing the action items, as well as those directly affected by the plans, and designing systems in a way that meets their needs and enhances their experiences.

By incorporating UX concepts, Urbnkind gains a deeper understanding of the needs and behaviors of residents in order to develop more effective plans and projects for communities. UX tools like user mapping, user flows, and iteration can be applied to urban design/planning to create a more user-centered outcome. These tools help to identify the needs, goals, and pain points of different user groups and provide a foundation for creating more productive, positive experiences.

Collaboration

Partnerships are at the core of what we do. Rather than trying to tackle every facet of an issue independently, we work alongside existing organizations, community initiatives, resources, and governmental partnerships in order to get things done.

We firmly believe that development projects done without consideration of community perspective are primed for financial or cultural failure. We prioritize creating relationships and facilitating conversations in hopes of understanding local community values. The more local and targeted the data, the better we can plan and prioritize projects that contribute to the betterment of neighborhoods and the people who live in them.
